November 25 - Knut Dethlefsen moderated a talk organised by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Berlin with MP Niels Annen (SPD Foreign Policy Spokesperson). The participants from Media, Businesses and Parliament discussed future perspectives and limitations in shaping policy and cooperation with China.
May 4 - Bernt Berger attended a conference at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) with the title The Chinese approach to public diplomacy – A clash of ideas? He chaired a panel on China's international soft power and ability to spread its values. Link
December 02 - Bernt Berger attended the 4th CSCAP EU Committee Meeting in Brussels. He gave a presentation on the prospects and limitations of Preventive Diplomacy on the Korean Peninsula.
September 6 - Bernt Berger participated in a Workshop on common security interests of the EU in China along the Silk road Economic Belt held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The event was organised by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and SIPRI. Bernt Berger gave a presentation on the EU's interests and activities in South Asia.

May 30 - Rachel Irwin participated in a conference in Stockholm with the title Global Health in Conflict, Poverty and Fragility - Achieving the
2030 Agenda. She presented on the resilience of health-care systems in conflict/fragile states. Link
May 18-19 - Bernt Berger attended a Conference on Connectivity and
Commerce and Investment. The Conference was held in Berlin in the framework of the German OSCE Chairmanship 2016. Link
April 7 - Bernt Berger participated in a Workshop with the title The Silk Road Economic Belt: Seeking common security interests between the EU and China. The event was held in Beijing, China and was a joint initiative by SIPRI, CICIR and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. Bernt Berger gave an input on the challenges and raised questions on China's approach towards cooperation in the OBOR framework.
